ABSTRACT

The microcomputer revolution has come of age in agriculture. Other speakers on this program will provide invaluable insights into some of the uses for animal scientist’s microcomputer in animal scientist’s farm and ranch business. Although powerful mainframe computers oftentimes can house problem-solving software that can be of immense benefit in animal scientists farming and ranching operation, most producers will opt to acquire as much problem-solving software as possible for their own microcomputer. The powerful mainframe systems can handle such problems with ease because the memory capabilities are virtually unlimited. The environmental constraint curves on each of the items are derived from feeding trials involving literally thousands of cattle over a decade or more. The information on the networks is stored in tremendously large data bases that are updated regularly to provide the microcomputer user with the latest possible knowledge. Information networking for agriculture is rapidly becoming the wave of the present.
