ABSTRACT

Many scientists and natural-resource administrators are highly trained and knowledgeable in their specialized fields. Most started and advanced in their careers in a particular specialty. Most graduate schools of public and business administration have long seen the necessity of providing courses with such titles as "Supervision", "Behavior and Administration", and "Organizational Theory". The natural-resource supervisor soon finds that he is concerned with such concepts as "delegation", "responsiveness", "responsibility", and "motivation". The hopes and desires of the people involved must be understood and made the basis of a motivation effort if the effort is to be meaningful and effective. The field of behavior and motivation draws from the bodies of knowledge called psychology, psychiatry, and social psychology. Psychology focuses on the behavior of individuals and on the reasons for their behavior. Psychologists study the brain and neurological system.
