ABSTRACT

Wild creatures increasingly serve esoteric functions in support of humankind. In Minamata Bay of Japan, mercury pollution first came to light in the form of aberrant behavior on the part of local cats and birds. Start-point materials from seaweeds are used for drugs and pharmaceuticals in the form of anticoagulants, antibiotics, and medicinals to treat stomach ulcers, bronchitis, emphysema, epilepsy, blood pressure, cholesterol problems, atherosclerosis, and hypertension. Trees can perform a distinctive cleanup job on pollution, especially urban pollution – and notably that prime contaminant of industrial localities, sulphur dioxide. Tropical trees seem to be still more capable of filtering dust, smoke, soot, and other fine particles from the atmosphere. Certain animals appear to react to seismic disturbances preceding earthquakes. Seaweeds are algae of types that occur in many shapes and sizes. Among raw materials from seaweeds, a leading item is agar-agar.
