ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a potpourri of information sources that have been compiled to meet the needs of women's studies scholars, activists in the women's movement, and general readers. The sources range from self-help manuals to authoritative reference books, and from works with a serious purpose to those designed for fun and inspiration. A useful but rapidly aging handbook for feminists hoping to break into print. An unusual handbook that surveys ideas about women as expressed by a variety of thinkers and researchers in the past and present. Entries on individual theorists comprise the bulk of the text. Women publishers, both small and large, are listed, with notes on the types of manuscripts they seek and the history of the presses. Women's journals and newspapers are also covered. Interspersed among the articles on individuals are short essays on selected topics.
