ABSTRACT

This treaty consolidates four other conventions which were drafted to provide protection to women and children. The earliest of these is the International Agreement for the Suppression of the White Slave Traffic of May 18, 1904. This document was amended by the Protocol of December 3, 1948, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations. The second is the International Convention for the Suppression of White Slave Traffic of May 4, 1910, which was amended by the sane protocol. The third is the International Convention for the Suppression of Traffic in Women and Children of September 30, 1921; it was amended by the Protocol adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on October 20, 1947. The fourth is the International Convention for the Suppression of Traffic in Women of Full Age, amended by the 1947 Protocol as well.
