ABSTRACT

The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 18, 1979. The ultimate objective, using the categories developed, is to determine from this new multi-lateral convention the present international consensus on the preferred status of women. Protective action at the international level has focused on the economic sphere, in which the protectionist objective is achieved by totally excluding women from certain types of employment. The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 18, 1979. Women's unpaid contributions to the economy have only become the subject of serious study as more women enter the workplace and the division of labor between men and women there and in the home must be redefined. The content of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrmination against Women is overwhelmingly non-discriminatory.
