ABSTRACT

Most of the population of Kuwait lives in Kuwait City and surrounding suburbs. Twenty-five miles to the south of Kuwait City is the oil town of Ahmadi. The Kuwaiti businessman has access to abundant capital funds at easy terms. Yet participation with foreign enterprises is a much coveted goal in Kuwait. Most Kuwaiti trading and contracting companies avoid specialization in either wholesale or retail operations. Kuwaiti merchants and businessmen have extensive knowledge of and experience in the special characteristics of their own market based on current developments and finely honed mercantile reflexes handed down from centuries as a traditional commercial and maritime country. In order to get a feel for the special requirements of the Kuwaiti building industry, one must know something of the architectural style. Kuwait's computer population in 1974 totald fourteen small, medium, and large computers and sixteen in the "semi"-computer category.
