ABSTRACT

Information seems to be the most immediate, as well as the most easily met, need of students in Seminar. As a content area of Seminar instruction, information can be a much more enriching focus than it might seem at first. The purpose of scholastic skills training in Seminar is, first, to make students aware that there are indeed discrete skills that can be worked on and improved, particularly in the formal educational system of a college. Depending on how much time is allotted to Seminar, the instructor will set priorities as to which skills and in what depth he wishes to deal with them. One consideration is the extent to which certain skills are taught in places other than Seminar. The beauty of considering skills in Seminar is that it enables students to demystify the learning process, to look upon learning, for the moment, as an assemblage of tasks.
