ABSTRACT
René Dubos, professor emeritus of biology at Rockefeller University and one of the "elder statesmen" of science in the United States, saw the ethical problem in a technological world as one of creating a new symbiosis between man, the earth, and natural forces. Sharing the evolutionary approach of Fox, but differing from him in some details, Dubos saw new systems emerging from the symbiosis of man and the ecosystem.
