ABSTRACT

In the year following the Wunsch symposium, Alvin M. Weinberg was invited to the Technion to deliver the Joseph Wunsch Lecture. Weinberg, formerly director of Oak Ridge National Laboratory and now head of the Institute for Energy Analysis of Oak Ridge Associated Universities, took the occasion to reflect on the Mount Carmel Declaration. Although expressing his sympathy with the goals of the declaration and his agreement with the need for the exercise of social responsibility, Weinberg voiced some practical reservations to the application of the theses of the declaration.
