ABSTRACT
1–130 Abdiel returns by morning to find preparations for war already afoot (–21). He is welcomed and led to the Mount (–28). God commends him (–43), then orders Michael and Gabriel to lead forces and drive Satan out (–55). The army moves north (–78) till they meet Satan’s army, hastening in the hope of taking the Mount of God by surprise (–91). Satan leaves his chariot (–103) and advances to the front (–113). Abdiel steps forward to confront him (–130).
