ABSTRACT

Industrial and commercial requirement of any process is to produce the final product in a minimum time period with the highest dimensional accuracy. Considering these points in view, an experimental study was conducted to enhance the performance of Electro-chemical Machining (ECM). ECM is a non-conventional machining technique widely used in the modern manufacturing sector. Overcut is the main element of error in ECM, and the parameters involved are to be recognized. The experiments were conducted in accordance with Taguchi's design of experiment. The results or responses were analysed performing Analysis of Variance. The tests were undertaken to understand the impact, contribution, influence and optimum machining process parameter settings for minimal overcut. The results obtained were validated for establishing the authentication of the theoretical model developed, and it was found to be of great resemblance to the experimental data.
