ABSTRACT

The loving call of Jesus, more or less continuously sounding in her soul, was something of which, true to herself, Elvira could make no mystery. But this desire to become a nun, above all, a Carmelite nun, angered her father, whose joy and treasure she was, because he was always dreaming of a happy future for her, and he could not conceive of her finding happiness in religious life, especially in a cloistered order.
