ABSTRACT

The LiCu(H 2 O)[BP 2 O 8 ]·2H 2 O and LiCu 2 BP 2 O 8 (OH) 2 multinary compounds are formed in the B–H–Li–Cu–O–P system. The first of them crystallizes in the hexagonal structure with the lattice parameters a = 952.0 ± 0.4 and c = 1,543.8 ± 0.6 pm (Boy and Kniep 2001a). Turquoise, hexagonal bipyramids of the title compound were prepared by hydrothermal treatment of a mixture of Li2B4O7, LiH2PO4, and CuCl2·2H2O (molar ratio 1:8:1). A concentrated aqueous solution of pH = 1–1.5 (by adding HCl) was held at 160°C for 2 weeks in a Teflon autoclave (20 mL, degree of filling of 50%).
