ABSTRACT

Designers, whether out of aesthetic or functional concerns, often focus on the body’s mid-torso. The mid-torso overlies the abdomen. The mid-torso is an area of the body where upper torso and lower torso anatomical structures and functions overlap, so designers must consider form and function of both when designing products that cover the mid-torso. Many designs feature a waistline that must align with the waist of a person. A standard definition of waist is that it is the narrowest part of the body in the mid-torso.
