ABSTRACT

In Chapter 2, an overview of the theoretical and conceptual bases to OPC is provided, highlighting links between these theories and how each has contributed to specific aspects of OPC. Theories include those that cross disciplines, such as the World Health Organisation's framework for health and disability (the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health), family-centred practice, and adult learning theories. In addition, occupational therapy-specific models are presented to link OPC to its professional origins. Practical examples of how each theory informs the delivery of OPC are given throughout.
