ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 elaborates on the audience experience, the ethics of video documentary, and on the distribution spaces and contexts in which video ethnographies are screened: at film festivals in the public sphere and on digital platforms in audiences’ homes. This chapter concludes the book with a discussion of ethics and the interpretative flux and instability of video ethnographies when they circulate as artworks in the wider world beyond scholarly institutions. It does so with an extensive discussion on these ethics with a case study on the documentary Kamp Katrina.
