ABSTRACT

The termination of the licence plus the payment of one month’s extra salary to the Nexos employees who had relocated in California cost it over £300,000. Nexos was granted the sole and exclusive right to sell and service the device world-wide while Olga, Jr was to be its sole supplier. The 1980 nightmare over Olga, Jr’s word processor was compounded by the fact that Nexos had no chairperson during that year. Willott then went back to National Enterprise Board (NEB) headquarters to reveal what he thought would be taken as good news but was met by the rebel Nexos directors who told him about their attempt to temporarily spike the funding. Despite the receipt of the £13 million, things went from bad to worse for Nexos in 1981. Even bitter critics of the NEB feel that the concept behind Nexos was a sensible one.
