ABSTRACT

This chapter investigates the nebulous notion of teacher educators' knowledge. It provides the relevant literature review from the epistemological standpoint of a teacher educator's knowledge concerning sources, types, and application. There will be a discussion of the educationists' know-how bringing together findings, empirical data, and supporting literature with a view of offering a workable theoretical framework of teacher educators' teaching and learning actions. The chapter examines the relevant literature sources from the epistemological perspective where knowledge is needed by further education (FE) teacher educators to carry out their duties. The chapter focuses on the sources and types of knowledge that are necessary for the functioning of teacher educators. From an occupational perspective, these know-hows have explicit and implicit elements. From the perspectives of teachers in the FE sector, the types of experiences such as occupational and life-related aspects are pertinent.
