ABSTRACT
The modern body armor is made from the textile fibers for the different types of threat protection in several applications: military, medical, sport, industrial, etc. This chapter targets to give the basic concept for the choice of textile materials for a specific body armor design with the emphasize on threats and Risk Assessment calculations. A complete analysis of the protective fabric requirements for armor design are given for heat and flame resistant clothing, chemical protective garments, ballistic body armor, electrical resistance armor, radiation protective garments, and stab resistance armor. Some aspects for fiber selection for the protective materials are investigated.
