ABSTRACT

Positive feedback is crucial for healthy development in children and a vital element of any good working environment or friendship. This chapter discusses how to acquire systematic feedback in a therapeutic setting, which is an important tool for professional development and providing the best possible service. Michael Lambert and his group continued to develop outcome questionnaire, shortened it, and developed software that provided therapists with timely and feedback on the client’s therapeutic progress. Lambert is considered a pioneer in the field and has inspired many other researchers to take an interest in feedback. The Session Rating Scale works in the same way as Outcome Rating Scale, except in the case the therapist wants feedback on how the client experiences their collaboration. The greatest obstacle to collecting client feedback is resistance on the part of the therapists.
