ABSTRACT

Researchers, as a consequence, focused their research towards finding pest-specific pesticides and cropping methods that were not pesticide centric. The community will also benefit by practising pesticide-free farming as it will ensure agricultural sustainability. Pesticides can also be classified in terms of chemical families, such as organochlorines, organophosphates, or carbamates. Many commonly used pesticides are not included in these families, including glyphosate. Although pesticides have several benefits, there are also several disadvantages associated with their use, such as potential toxicity to humans and other animals. Farmers and spray workers fail to take adequate precautions while handling pesticides or they do not use protective clothing and equipment. Thousands of people have died or become ill as a result of accidental exposure to pesticides. The mishap that occurred in Bhopal claimed more than 5000 deaths. It resulted from exposure to accidental emissions of methyl isocyanate from a pesticide factory.
