ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 analyzes the process that transformed the Ben-Yehuda family’s weekly into the first daily newspaper in Palestine. How did the editors endure the hardships of putting out a newspaper day in, day out? How was the news content gathered? How did the editorial board go about its work? Who did the writing and who did the editing? What relationship did the editor and the publisher maintain within the editorial board? How and where was the paper distributed? These questions are examined within the broad context of the process by which a daily newspaper is produced, distributed, and received.
