ABSTRACT

Bertran de Bom, as I have told you in the other razos, 1 had a brother whose name was Constantine de Bom, and he was a good knight of arms but not the type of man to concern himself much with nobility and honor; and he was always wishing evil upon Sir Bertran. One day he took over for himself the castle of Hautefort, which belonged to both of them jointly. Sir Bertran recovered it and cut off all his brother’s power. Constantine then went off to the Viscount of Limoges, asking that he be supported in his struggle with his brother, and he gave him his support. King Richard also supported him against Sir Bertran.
