ABSTRACT
Guillem de Balaun was a noble lord from the Montpelier area, a skillful knight, very learned, and a good composer of songs. He fell in love with a noble lady from the bishopric of Gevaudan whose name was Lady Guilelma of Jaujac, the wife of Peire, the lord of Jaujac. He loved her greatly and served and honored her through singing and telling tales about her. And the lady loved him so much that she did and said all that he wanted according to the rights of love.
