ABSTRACT
Guilelm del Bauz, the prince of Orange, robbed a merchant from France and took from him a large number of goods while he was on his route. 1 The merchant went to the King of France to complain. The King told him that he could not do justice for him because he was too far away from the site: “But I give you my word that you should do whatever you can to get even, no matter what die means, if it works.”
