ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an introduction to the study of international investment policy and the rationale for an interdisciplinary approach to policy-making. It compares economics, international business, law, and political science, in terms of their scope and values as well as how they understand the characteristics of foreign investors, host countries, and the impact of investment in host states. We use this comparison to locate each book chapter in its disciplinary context and to illustrate areas of commonality and difference across disciplines.
