ABSTRACT

Living in a soldier’s matrix also means being exposed to influences which invade personal boundaries and what we call the ‘transpersonal’ way of communicating through the individual. The culture of the soldier’s matrix seems to hold a monopoly on the individual’s mind and to expect resilience and selflessness in the struggle for survival or the fight for glory. Individuals are enlisted as a soldier for decades, which helps to give acceptance to the notion that soldiers are only society’s delegates, while everyone, including women, children and the elderly, are enrolled and serving. Unfortunately, the Israeli soldier’s matrix is rapidly developing in the frightening direction of the German soldier’s matrix. One of the most important processes in the sandwich model is the ability of individuals and subgroups to ‘distance’ themselves from their soldier’s matrix and make it possible to reflect on the processes happening.
