ABSTRACT

The discussion with Robi Friedman, who conducts groups, workshops, seminars and supervises in many European countries, brings together many of his seminal theoretical and practical concepts. These concepts–Relational Disorders; the Soldier’s Matrix; a relational understanding of dreams; and the Sandwich Model, to name a few–were formulated throughout four decades of his professional activity. Since Europe, as a geographical place as well as a socio-cultural space, underpins Friedman’s personal history and professional activity, his ideas are deeply rooted in, and coloured by, the European context. Anna Zajenkowska adds an insider’s perspective on Europe to the discussion, as she comes from Poland, and and Uri Levin adds an outsider’s perspective, as he comes from Israel. The discussion aims to integrate different perspectives on the current processes in Europe utilizing Robi Friedman’s theory and practice.
