ABSTRACT

Phantasms of the Living did not touch on the apparitions of persons who had been dead for more than twelve hours. The Report on the Census of Hallucinations dealt with them to some extent but did not gather an especially rich harvest. However, the problem of ‘post-mortem’ apparitions was taken up in the S.P.R.’s Proceedings by several members of the Sidgwick group. The first was Mrs. Sidgwick, who published a lengthy paper on the subject in 1885. 1
