ABSTRACT
Ethnicity in sport in Asian societies, the focus of this chapter, has been widely discussed in the literature. This chapter provides a panoramic view of research on sport conducted within and between Asian countries, as well as in Asian diaspora communities in Western societies. It covers four topics: sporting bodies, ethnic relations and national identities; ethnic minorities in sport; postcolonialism and ethnic identities in sport; and negotiating race/ethnicity in sport globally.
