ABSTRACT

Any reader knows, while every story has an ending, only some have a conclusion, in the sense of providing a clear explanation of the major unknowns the plot contained. Some stories not only do not provide such an explanation but leave the reader even more perplexed than he or she had been while reading them. But note that all the large claims about the pro-animal value of stories presume they can affect not only attitudes but also behavior. Wouldn’t it be important from a practical point of view to conduct parallel studies in different cultural contexts, e.g., in countries where attitudes toward animals or stories would be different from those in Poland? By saying that animal narratives can be widely used for improving attitudes toward animal welfare the authors also mean that, according to their data, they appear to work in a broad range of contexts and settings.
