ABSTRACT

The increasing capabilities of mobile phones, along with higher bandwidth networks available for these devices, have made the mobile platform very appealing for both consumers and enterprises. A mobile platform in a mobile device manages the hardware and the software resources of the device; in the same way, a computer operating system (OS) manages its resources. Google's solution to the fragmentation issue is the Android compatibility definition document that defines a set of baseline standards for the platform. The iOS App Store is a distribution platform for iOS that is used for distributing a digital application. iOS also provides a set of interfaces that can be used for accessing low-level features of the OS. Windows Mobile is a mobile OS developed by Microsoft and was used in smart- phones and mobile devices. Symbian OS is flexible and scalable as it is used for a wide variety of feature and smartphones.
