ABSTRACT

In the previous chapters, we have seen how graphical and algebraic approaches can be used to determine minimum fresh resource and waste discharge targets for a resource conservation network (RCN). These minimum targets can be further reduced if the operating conditions of the processes (e.g., ¤owrate, concentration, and temperature) may be altered. In this chapter, we shall see how process changes may lead to reduced ¤owrates of fresh resource and waste discharge for an RCN.
