ABSTRACT

As discussed in Chapters 6 and 9, interception units are broadly categorized into single pass and partitioning types (Ng et al., 2009a; Tan et al., 2009). However, the algebraic targeting procedure given in Chapter 6 is applicable only for a material regeneration network that utilizes interception units of the single pass type; while the graphical approach given in Chapter 9 is restricted to the pretreatment network with partitioning units. In this chapter, the automated targeting model (ATM) outlined in Chapter 13 is extended for various resource conservation networks (RCNs) with both types of interception units. This includes the material regeneration network (where process source is puri‘ed for recovery); as well as the pretreatment network (where fresh resource is puri‘ed).
