ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND Electronic FHR monitoring during labor is the most common obstetric procedure in the United States (1). Between 1997 and 2003 in the Unites States, monitoring was utilized in 84% (23,273,458) of the over 27 million births (1). For admission tests at the beginning of labor, see chapter 7.
