ABSTRACT

The survey provides general insight on a variety of topics, specifically media consumption, ownership of technological devices, and interest in health-related topics. Health departments are coming up with innovative methods to tap these online resources to achieve their objectives. Developing innovative health information for youth using emerging media applications is a challenging design problem for information and communication scientists. Health departments across the United States have been using media as an important tool to promote health campaigns, create awareness, and market health products. Information technology, although a growing trend among current youth, had a seemingly insignificant role in the delivery of health information to these youth. Although social networking sites were not dramatically abundant within this youth group, e-mail and cellular phone use was fairly significant. Technology and schools are both highly significant entities in the distribution of health information to youth in Indiana.
