Constance Reid was not trained as a mathemati-cian, but she is well known for her books on mathematics and mathematicians. These include From Zero to Infi nity and A Long Way From Euclid (published by Thomas Y. Crowell) and Hilbert, Courant in Göttingen and New York, and Neyman-From Life (published by Springer-Verlag).
