ABSTRACT

Eleotrica contains a single species, E. cableae, endemic to the Galapágos Islands. It inhabits sand-rubble bottoms near rocky reefs and is common in tidepools (Grove and Lavenberg, 1997). Th e species has a maximum length of 7.0 cm SL. Th e body lacks scales, except for several enlarged basicaudal scales at the base of the caudal fi n, and the pelvic fi ns are almost completely separate (Humann and Deloach, 1993) (Table 2.1.2).
