Before we hear the words spoken by Einstein, we must imagine Langevin, posted just behind Einstein, and ready to whisper any French words which he may require. Einstein begins by noting that even though mathematics serves
as an instrument for physics, it does not suffice to simply put physics into equations and then juggle them.
