ABSTRACT
ANOVA is a statistical tool for estimating treatment effects and testing hypotheses when predictors are categorical and the response variable is quantitative. Unlike simpler analyses for comparing hypothetical population means (e.g., t-tests), ANOVA predictors (factors) may have more than two categories (factor levels). Furthermore, multiple factors and their interactions can be considered within a single model.
