By now, Daniel Bernoulli had earned respect as a great scientist in his own time even if his own father never acknowledged his accomplishments. In later years, Daniel enjoyed telling of a chance encounter a few years after his return to Basel from St. Petersburg. He was traveling by coach and entered into conversation with another passenger during the several hours that they traveled together. e men enjoyed one another’s company, and during a lull in the conversation, Daniel realized that he hadn’t yet introduced himself.
