ABSTRACT

Rock salt has been recognized as an ideal medium

for the underground strategic energy reserves, un-

derground storage of CO

and high-level radioactive

waste disposal with its low porosity, low permeabili-

ty and damage recovery. However, in the long term

large deformation and even loss of effective storage

volume may frequently occur to salt rock reserves,

resulting from a variety of the internal pressures and

a time-dependent creep behavior of salt rock. There-

fore, a mathematical modeling approach to creep of

salt rock plays an important role in the prediction of

long-term time-dependent deformation of salt rock

reserves.
