ABSTRACT
Let me explain. Savant syndrome is a rare but extraordinary condition in which persons with developmental disabilities such as autistic disorder, or with disabilities from head injury or other central nervous systems diseases or disorders, have what are known as ‘islands of genius’ that stand in marked, jarring contrast to the overall handicap. Whatever special ability – art, music, calendar calculating, lightning calculating, and visual/spatial skills – those special skills are always accompanied by massive memory.
