ABSTRACT

The horizontal disk separator, an experimental machine not in general use, separates by differences in the seed’s ability to roll or slide when subjected to a mild centrifugal force. Shape, roundness, density and surface texture of a seed will affect its ability to roll on the spinning disk. This is similar to the action of the spiral separator, but the horizontal disk separator offers more flexibility since the disk speed can be changed to give the operator more control over the separation (Figure 41.1).
