ABSTRACT

For the pea crop there is considerable variability in yield between years and regions, and within a small region for a given year (Doré, 1992). To understand this variation and to identify its causes, the crop diagnosis method has been proposed and implemented for various species (Doré et al., 1998). Crop diagnosis enables one to identify and rank the limiting factors which reduce yield by distinguishing the effects of soil and weather from those of cultural practices, and to identify solutions to put into practice to limit the occurrence of these factors.
