ABSTRACT

They drove in silence until they reached the outskirts of the small town of Bergen. Here, the nightclub wait e r’s directions proved useful and within a few minutes they had found Becker’s farm. His compact house was dwarfed by the surrounding fields. Occasional patches of dirty snow left over from the most recent storm dotted the brown earth. Their knock on the door was answered by a pleasant-faced woman of middle age, rotund but not obese.
