ABSTRACT
The aim of this paper is to provide an introduction to Pade approxi mations. This is a wide subject connected to other important topics such as continued fractions and orthogonal polynomials and having many applica tions in numerical analysis and in applied mathematics. So we shall restrict our discussion here to the basic definitions and results, and refer the interested reader to [5] and the literature quoted here.
