ABSTRACT
As we have seen, although these problems are closely related, the second is not a consequence of the first. The area of mathematics that is concerned with the properties of the integers is called number theory. It is one of the oldest areas of mathematics, and the problems mentioned above are some of the earliest number theoretic problems considered by humankind.
