The previous chapter dealt with the topic of simply inherited traits in potato, focusing on pest and disease resistance mapping studies. In this chapter, the subject of complex traits in potato will be discussed. There have been a large number of published studies of potato quantitative traits, both on resistance traits, as well as on traits impinging on tuber quality and potato life-cycle components (e.g., tuber dormancy). It is not intended for this review to be completely comprehensive, but this chapter will summarize some of the key studies that, in my view, have shed the most light on the inheritance of complex traits in potato.
